Our Movies
We (well Geoff, actually) have been collecting DVDs for quite some time. There are those who question the reasons for actually purchasing a DVD (including Kris). So here is the explanation:
Rental DVDs are most often scratched
I absolutely hate renting or borrowing a DVD, only to not be able to watch the entire movie because of a scratch. I missed the last 10 minutes of "The Abyss" because of a scratch. A real let-down, especially after watching the entire movie up until the end.
Rental DVDs have to be returned in a reasonable time
I can't count the times I have rented a movie and had to return it without actually having watched it. Let's get real here, we have kids. We can't just pop in a movie any time we want.
Rental DVDs have to be re-rented to watch them again
Kris and I love to watch our favorite movies again and again. We can't do that if it's sitting on the shelf at Blockbuster instead of in my library.
Why do I have to justify to you?
So there are lots of good reasons to buy DVDs rather than rent them. I prefer to buy. It's as simple as that.
